Import and Sync Between Devices

Kaptur allows you to transfer and synchronize your trading journal between multiple devices (for example, passing your data from your mobile phone to your personal tablet or computer) in a 100% private way, without relying on third-party cloud servers.

1. Configure the Vault Encryption Key

Before syncing your data, you must set a master password that will encrypt your database end-to-end (local encryption). This password is required to ensure that no one on your local network can intercept the transmission.

1. Go to the Settings screen and tap Sync.
2. In the key protection section, if you haven't configured it yet, enter a secure password in the Encryption key field (must be at least 8 characters long).
3. Tap the Save Key button. This key will be stored securely on your device.

2. Local WiFi Sync (No Intermediaries)

This feature temporarily turns your mobile phone into a local server so that other devices connected to the same WiFi network can download the information directly and privately.

1. Make sure both devices are connected to the same WiFi network.
2. Open the Sync section on the source app.
3. Expand the Advanced Options at the bottom and turn on the Sync via local WiFi network toggle.
4. You will see a green confirmation indicator showing that the WiFi server is ready.

3. Pairing via QR Codes

To connect your devices instantly without typing complicated IP addresses or URLs, you can use QR codes:

Show Pairing Code (Source Device):

1. On the source device, tap the Show QR code button.
2. A secure QR code will be generated on the screen containing the encrypted credentials and temporary network details.

Scan Code (Target Device):

1. On the target device, open the Sync screen and tap Scan QR code.
2. Grant camera permission if prompted and point to the QR code displayed on the source device.
3. The app will process the code immediately and establish the encrypted link to download the journal history.
4. Tap Sync Now to start the transfer. Once completed, you will see a green success card displaying the last sync time.
